I was commissioned to paint a 12 foot tall mural in a big house in Edinburgh by a couple who visited one of my exhibitions. I painted it across the back of the shutters so that when the shutters were closed in the evening you got the sense that you were looking out of the bay window across this landscape.
The landscape is based on a place called Chanaz in France which I painted as part of my Source to Sea project. The following images show my development from the initial sketch to a watercolour to the final mural. As the original was a watercolour painting, it was very tricky to recreate the same effect using acryllic.
The final mural took 3 weeks and I had to climb up a scaffold as it was so tall.
